If you haven’t heard of Tesla Motors, I’d like to introduce you to one of America’s youngest car companies. They make fully electric vehicles, manufactured in their Northern California factory. While these videos are teasers for their Model S sedan that has already launched, it gives a great sense of the scale of machinery used to make these cars. You can see how a simple roll of sheet metal becomes a car door. Such big machines!
The Tesla Factory is what used to be a factory named NUMMI, a GM-Toyota joint venture. I took a few field trips there in college, and it was an awesome experience. I wonder if I can get a tour of the Tesla Factory…
